Spunky Allison McClare is determined to be a fearless, independent woman. But when she takes a notion to explore the wild Barbary Coast, she quickly discovers she's no match for the unsavory characters that haunt the dark streets.

Sparks fly every time the two meet until a grudging friendship develops into something deeper. But is he just a fraud like all the rest of the men Allison's cared for? Or is he the one who will let her dare to love again?

Award-winning author Julie Lessman brings the glamour of Gilded Age San Francisco to vibrant life in this journey to find a love that never fails.

My Review:

5 Stars

Julie Lessman has done it again, she has written an outstanding story filled with a great message, deep multidimensional characters and so much more! Sparks fly as fast as the pages turn in the second book in Julie's The Hearts of San Francisco series. While I highly recommend that the first book should be read first this book would be enjoyable on its own but you would miss some of the back story with other characters.

This is Allison McClare's story and boy is it a fun one. Miss Alli is sassy, loving, caring and fully determined to be an independent young lady, that is until she meets Mr. Nick Barone. Can this handsome rogue break into her heart that has been hurt in the past?

I just loved this story and had so much fun getting to know the McClare's more and more. They are all so much fun. I know I can't wait to read the next in the series but also know it will be a wait worth waiting for.

Fans of Julie Lessman will not be disappointed!

About the Book:

Turn your child’s bedtime into a calm and soothing time with God. Little children love getting—and giving—hugs. Hugs generate warmth, affection, and a feeling of acceptance. Bedtime Prayers That End with a Hug! offers a fun and heartwarming way to end your child’s day. This padded hardcover book features 52 easy-to-understand Snuggle Time moment based on Bible themes, along with sweet illustrations, simple lessons to help children apply the Bible to daily life, memory verses from the NLT, and heartwarming bedtime stories. Each story wraps up with an opportunity for parent and child to share a great big hug!

My Review:

4 Stars

This is a very lovely and sweet looking book. The illustrations are beautiful and relaxing looking. The book starts with a place to personalize the book making it a great gift book. There are 52 devotions/prayers making it great to use once a week or you could just go straight through. Each prayer has a theme and gives a verse to back it up. After that there is a snuggle time which is like a daily application of the prayer. There is also the bedtime bible thougth that applies the them to a story/character in the bible. Then there is the hug-a-bye prayer which is simple prayer and then lastly the hug time.

I think this book would be prefect for preschool age and a great way to introduce a daily time with God. The devotions are short enough that they could easily follow story time and make a great end of the day.

Luminary by Krista McGee

About the Book:

Anomaly #2

Thalli thought escaping to the surface would mean freedom. But is she any less of an anomaly aboveground?

After escaping an underground annihilation chamber, Thalli, Berk, Rhen, and John find themselves fleeing across the former United States, aboveground for the first time. As the defectors cross the forgotten landscape, the three youths see things they had only read about on screens: horses, rain, real books—and a colony of unsanctioned survivors living the ancient way in a town called New Hope.

When these survivors reveal the truth of what happened years ago, Thalli is left unsettled and skeptical of everything she’s ever been told. Can she trust anything from the State, including her own feelings for Berk? When she volunteers for a peace mission to New Hope’s violent neighbor, Athens, her confusion mounts when the supposedly ruthless Prince Alex turns out to be kind and charming. Although everyone in New Hope warned her not to, she can’t help but fall for him.

Meanwhile, John’s unwavering faith in the goodness of the Designer begins to make its mark on Thalli’s heart. But can Thalli really come to trust in a generous, protective Designer who rules over all things? Would that not be setting herself up for another betrayal?

The time for her to decide is now . . . because the State is closing in.

My Review:

5 Stars

Krista McGee picks right up where she left us hanging at the end of Anomaly and takes the story to new levels and thoughts. Everything I thought might happen was wrong and she drew me deeper into this new world. Thalli has escaped the state and what she hopes to find may or may not be what she is looking for. With more danger ahead and new twists she must rely more and more on John's teaching of the Designer and be stronger then ever.

I think I enjoyed this book even more than the first and am more invested in the characters and plot. I am so not enjoying having to wait till summer for the final book to release, Revolutionary, as like the first it ends with a giant cliffhanger.

While considered a young adult title, Krista McGee has made a fascinating world with great character development that will engage both young adults and adults too. This book truly relies on reading the first one so if it you haven't make sure you grab that one first, you won't be disappointed.

No One to Trust by Lynette Eason

About the Book:

Hidden Identity #1

She doesn't know who she's running from--and the man she loves may be someone else entirely

Summer Abernathy wakes up one morning to find her husband missing, three men in her home intent on finding him, and the life she's been living based on a lie. Which Kyle Abernathy did she marry? The computer programmer she met in line at the bank? Or the one who was apparently using that image as a cover?

The search for her husband--and answers--takes Summer ever deeper into a world of organized crime where people are used one moment and discarded the next. And with her deepest relationship of trust already shattered, Summer doesn't know who to believe.

Always thrilling, bestselling author Lynette Eason outdoes herself in this taut, breakneck story of lies, loyalties, and love that will have you up all night to discover the truth hidden in the shadows.

My Review:

5 Stars

Lynette Eason has done it again! She has written another fast paced novel that kept me reading late into the night. No One to Trust is the first book in her new series and I am looking forward to reading the next.

I just loved the setting and theme of this book. Lynette really pulled me in fast and the pace never let up, not even once. I felt the danger and kept thinking how terrifying it would be to be in Summer and Kyle's position. It really is scary to think how deep and far some will go to keep people quiet and gain more and more control. There is something fascinating about reading stories that deal with witness protection. It is so hard to grasp and imagine having to forget everything you were and knew and start over. It really leaves you wondering what you would do in Kyle and Summer's situation.

Fans of romantic suspense will just love this book and be left wanting for more. There is a little something for everyone and fans of Lynette Eason will not be disappointed.
